Primer: Smashbox // Coverage stick: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD // Foundation: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD // Pressed powder: Maybelline Fit Me // Blush: NARS, Love this $3 E.L.F dupe // Eyelash primer: Lancome // Mascara: Lacome // Eye shadow: CoverGirl, It's a dupe of the Urban Decay Naked3 palette // Lipstick: I wish that I could find this lipstick here, but sadly it's an Italian brand that doesn't ship to the US. The fresh sugar lip treatment in 'Rose' and 'Tulip' are pretty similar in color, but I also really love Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick // Setting spray: Supergoop!, I love this one because it smells amazing and has sunscreen, but I also like this $8 spray that also comes in a matte spray // Cosmetic bag set: Kate Spade, The smaller case is available by itself. And how darling are these polka dot and floral bags?! // Eyelash curler: Revlon, But I would love to have this rose gold one // Make up brushes: Lancome // Shea lip butter: The Body Shop
As a little girl, I loved make up. But I think I was under the impression that it was something that would come naturally for me by the time I was doing it on my own. Well, as it turns out make up isn't a natural talent of mine. I don't know if it was the frustration of not being able to recreate the look at home or that in the morning I found myself prioritizing my time on other things, but I slowly gave up trying new makeup looks every day.
For the most part I've adopted the French view on make up. Use less make up to highlight more of your natural features and then finish with a fun lip color (that's my twist on it). Honestly, it's been great because my mornings have been less frustrating and I don't feel like I'm putting a million things on my face anymore. I still try new looks for date nights and special occasions, but for my every day look pretty much consists of these 9 "can't live without them" products.
1. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (Oil Free) - $36
I've been using this primer for several years now and for me, there's nothing else like it. I've tried the dupes people have recommended, but to me they don't feel the same on my skin or make my make up last as long. I use the oil free one, but they also have a pore minimizing, color correcting and hydrating ones.
2. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation - $43
One of the things I struggle with is make up getting absorbed into my skin so that by the end of the day it looks like I never put make up on. I use this foundation stick to provide extra coverage on my T Zone, chin and cheeks. I have a natural red undertone to my skin, so this helps even the skin color out as well. I wear this in R220.
3. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation - $43
Like the primer, this foundation is something I kept coming back to so I decided that it was time to just stick with it. It gives me the best buildable, but lightweight coverage. I also found myself using less product that I was using with some other brands so it lasts for quite a while. I wear this in R220.
4. Maybelline 'Fit Me' Set + Smooth Pressed Powder - $7.99
I've tried loose powder before and I don't feel like they give me the coverage I want. My beauty guru friend recommended this to me since they have more shade options than most drugstore brands and I loved it. Plus at $7.99 I can afford to carry one with me for touch ups on the go and not have to worry about forgetting it at home. I wear this in 110 porcelain.
5. NARS blush in 'Super Orgasm' - $30
Since I'm really pale, bronzers can look really intense and orange on me. I loved the highlighting and shimmer they had, so suggested I try the Super Orgasm which was a bit of both. The Orgasm blush is one of the best blushes on the market, but I loved that this one had little flecks of shimmer in it.
If you're looking for something a little less expensive, the E.L.F blush in 'Twinkle Pink' is almost a perfect dupe. It's identical to Orgasm, though not quite as pink as Super Orgasm.
6. CoverGirl Roses TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette - $11.99
When it comes to eyeshadow, I really love lighter, more shimmery shades. I like having some darker colors for using as eyeliner and for creating a nighttime eye. But for the most part I stick to the light colors. Since I'm a sucker for all things pink, I loved all the colors in this palette and knew I would use them a lot. I really loved the Urban Decay Naked3 palette, but knew that I wouldn't use all the dark colors so this one was a better choice for me.
7. Lancome Cils Booster XI Vitamin-Infused Mascara Primer - $25.50
I've used mascara primers before, but I've found them to be very thick and heavy. After I put them on, my eyelashes get really clumpy. This mascara primer is not at all like that! It's lightweight and attaches to my lashes beautifully. They don't get clumpy and it's easy to spread out. Plus it really does make my eyelashes look super long.
8. Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Volume Mascara - $27.50
I don't think that all mascaras are created equally. I've definitely tried my fair share of mascaras that flake, smudge and won't come off for like days. But this mascara does none of those things. It doesn't clump, smudge or flake off. It comes off easily (really well if you use this remover) and works beautifully with the primer.
9. Supergoop! 'Defense Refresh' Setting Mist with Rosemary - $28
At first I didn't really buy into using a setting spray, but I think it was because I wasn't using the right one. I love this Supergoop! setting mist because it smells divine and it has SPF 50 in it. I also really like this NYX setting spray that comes in a matte and dewey finish as a more cost conscious option.
