When it comes to post vacation blues, the #struggleisreal. What's the worst thing about coming back from vacation? Some might say it's unpacking, having loads of laundry to do (no pun intended) or maybe it's even coming home to an empty frig, but for me it's something different. Sure, having a legitimately empty frig minus some condiments is pretty terrible, but having to come back to my normal routine is the worst.
For me being such a scheduled and organized person, the ability to completely change up my schedule and do something completely different on vacation is so freeing. Now don't get me wrong. That doesn't mean that I don't plan anything for the vacation. It just means that I'm not doing all the things that I would regularly be doing at home. So when I have to come back and start all the normal stuff again, it's a total bummer.
But in thinking about it, it's very telling. I don't switch up my normal routine enough, so I wait until I get a vacation for something exciting to happen...to feel alive. I'm very fortunate to have some very fun and exciting vacations on the horizon, but the truth is that every day can be just as exciting. You just have to make the effort to do so. When you stick to the same thing over and over again, nothing will change.
Our trip to California was almost...almost...as wonderful as our trip to Italy. It has really shown me that when you let go of your fears, worries, anxieties, whatever it might be and just take in what's around you that life is a truly beautiful and wonderful thing. It's only when you start making changes that you start living a different life. Whether it's changing where you work during the day, mixing up your work out or indulging in a spa treatment during your night time routine, there are so many things you can do to spice up your life.
I had no idea that amidst sipping amazing wines, snacking on delicious charcuterie plates and taking in breathtaking scenery that I would do a bit of self discovery. But God always seems to be teaching me lessons at the most interesting times. So as I look forward to all the events in store of the rest of the year, I can't wait to see how each of them will teach me how to live my life a little more colorfully.
PS check out how I styled this same white skirt here.
