I can't believe it's August already and that summer is almost over! It feels like May was just yesterday and we getting ready to kick off the summer with our California trip...now fall is right around the corner. Maybe it's because I didn't go somewhere beachy, but it honestly feels like I skipped summer. But I suppose all the rain, changing time zones, playing catch up between trips and not being able to go to the pool didn't help either.
It's felt a little bit like college where it's "all work, all play". The time between trips is filled with catching up on life things before heading out of town again. Sadly that doesn't always leave time to get my nails done, so I've been doing them at home. And after some not so pleasant experiences at nail salons recently, I realized that I need to be more mindful about the nail products I'm using. So my search was on to find a nail polish that's non-toxic and free of the big 5 chemicals usually found in nail polish.
When it comes to my polish, I also need something fast drying...Because I'm that girl that sits in a chair not doing anything while my nail polish dries and still somehow manages to chip it. Since my time at home is limited, it's important to make the most of it. So when I was introduced to EA Polish, designed to be non-toxic inside and out, I was excited to try it. This polish is 5 free, comes with a cute and inspiring message on each bottle and really is fast drying. I managed not to chip it so that was a huge win for me!
As I was trying to decide on the colors I wanted, I ended up picking "Study Break" and "Party Time" which ironically is exactly how I would describe my life right now. At home, I feel like I'm "studying" all the time, working on the blog and trying to make sure life things get done. But when I'm traveling, I'm ready to party and enjoy wherever I'm going since travel is a huge part of my self-care. It can be tiring for sure, but when you're passionate about chasing your dreams, it's all worth it!
So no I didn't have a traditional summer, but that doesn't mean that I can't bring a little summer fun into the beginning of fall. These polka dot shorts (last seen here) are so comfortable and the pleats give them a more tailored feel which I love. For the summer, I paired them with this fun lace top and a blush sandal for a casual but polished weekend look. And since these shorts are made of a slightly heavier fabric, they'll look so cute with a turtleneck, tights and booties once it finally cools down. So here's to enjoying the last bit of summer fun while I try to patiently wait for fall!
